Frequently asked questions

How can I connect my guitar to Rocksmith+?
Rocksmith+ requires an internet connection at all times to play.
For Mobile download the Rocksmith+ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, log in in using your Ubisoft Account, and sync the app to Rocksmith+. The app uses your phone's on-board microphone to detect your playing.
For PC there are several ways to connect to Rocksmith+ to enjoy real-time feedback and note detection.
Option 1 - Rocksmith Tuner App
Just download the free app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, log in in using your Ubisoft Account, and sync the app to Rocksmith+. The app uses your phone's on-board microphone to detect your playing. Also the Rocksmith Tuner app serves as a professional grade guitar tuner, for more info click here.
Option 2 - Rocksmith Real Tone Cable
If you have an electric guitar, bass, or acoustic-electric with a 1/4"" jack you can also use the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable to directly connect to your PC. In addition to receiving note detection and real-time feedback, you can also take advantage of our effects modeling and virtual tones to sound like your favorite artists as you play. For Piano you can use a variety of cable options including the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable, USB, or 5-pin MIDI, depending on what your instrument and PC or mobile device supports. Real Tone Cable sold separately, not available in all countries.
Option 3 - Third-Party Audio Interface
Depending on the interface, you may be able to connect electric instruments directly to your PC much like you can with the Rocksmith Real Tone Cable. Your experience may vary with third-party guitar interfaces and not all interfaces are supported. Ubisoft is unable to provide technical support for third-party interfaces. For more info click here.

How can I connect my piano to Rocksmith+?
For Mobile, there are two ways to play. First download the Rocksmith+ app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and log in in using your Ubisoft Account.
Option 1 - Device microphone
The app can use your phone or tablet's on-board microphone to detect your playing with an acoustic piano or the speakers on a digital piano or keyboard. For best results we recommend using the "piano" tone on your digital instruments when using your device microphone. While Rocksmith+ does support a full 88 key range with our song transcriptions, the initial version of on-board microphone detection will yield best results when playing songs within a 49 key range (C3-C7 pitch range). With this connection option Rocksmith+ will automatically transpose arrangements to this ideal range. For more info and best practices click here.
Option 2 - Wired MIDI Interface
You can also connect digital instruments directly to your phone or tablet using a mobile MIDI interface. Newer instruments usually have a USB output while older instruments may use a 5-pin MIDI connection and your exact requirements may vary. The interface and any adapters needed may also vary depending on your mobile device. For more info click here.
For PC you can connect your digital piano, keyboard, or MIDI controller directly with a wired MIDI interface to a USB port on your computer. The exact type of interface needed may vary depending on your instrument. Newer instruments usually have a USB output while older instruments may use a 5-pin MIDI connection and your exact requirements may vary. For more info click here.
